Start with the exact measure
A program can have different rules for insulation, a heat pump or a water heater. Identify the measure and equipment specification first. A general program headline is not enough to establish what your project can receive.
Ask who must own the equipment
When exploring Enbridge Sustain or another lease arrangement, ask the rebate administrator whether the ownership structure qualifies. Do not assume that an installation eligible under a cash purchase will be treated the same way under a lease.
Get the sequence in writing
Ask whether an assessment, application or approval must happen before a contract is signed or work starts. Save the response with your project records. It is easier to preserve the correct sequence than to repair a missed step later.
Record who gets paid and when
Find out who receives the rebate, which documents support it and when payment is expected. Keep installation cash requirements separate from the final net-cost calculation.
Use one project worksheet
List each potential program, its administrator, the measure, application step and stacking rule. Only deduct an amount once its application to your project has been established. A clear worksheet helps the advisor and installer work from the same assumptions.
